The investment principals at Stafford Capital Management have the experience, the discipline and the perceptiveness to uncover compelling investment communities. They share a common background and philosophical approach to security selection. Additionally, each principal is an owner of the firm and has made a long term commitment to its success.

The investment principals are:

Robert M. Stafford


Mr. Stafford founded Stafford Capital Management over two decades ago and co-founded Pacific Asset Partners in 1989.  He brings a depth of investment expertise in both the public and private markets.  Prior to founding the firm, Mr. Stafford managed the San Francisco operations of Goldman Sachs, where he was responsible for both the fixed income and equity institutional sales departments.  Previously, Mr. Stafford served as a financial analyst for Morgan Stanley.  He earned an MBA from Stanford University and a BA in History from Princeton University.

Craig A. Stephens

Mr. Stephens joined Stafford Capital Management in 2007.  He brings three decades of investment experience to the firm, most recently with KCM Investment Advisors as a partner and portfolio manager.  Previously, he was a portfolio manager with RCM Capital Management and Morgan Stanley.  Craig began his career at Paine Webber and Smith Barney and holds a Finance degree from the University of Southern California.

Stephen R. Ward

Stephen R. Ward has substantial experience in trading equity securities, options and futures contracts and other derivative instruments both on the floors of three national securities exchanges and off-floor through electronic execution.   A graduate of Santa Clara University (BA, 1978; JD, 1981) he worked for several years for KPMG as a tax accountant and then as a tax attorney for Cooley Godward.  He traded options on the Chicago Board Options Exchange and futures on the Chicago Board of Trade.  After several years on the floor of both, Mr. Ward returned to California and joined Derivative Consulting Group, LLC - a hedge fund manager that developed short selling and index option arbitrage trading strategies.  DCG managed over $650 million in assets.

 

Administrative Officers:

 

Ngoc Robertson – Vice President of Operations  

Ms. Robertson joined Stafford Capital Management in 2007.  She manages the back office operations and accounting.  She was formerly an actuary at Price Waterhouse and earned her BS in math at UC Berkeley.

 

Carol Horace – Office Manager and Head Trader

 

Ms. Horace joined Stafford Capital Management in 2011.  She conducts trading and front office administration for the firm.  She was formerly an institutional equity trader for 13 years at Dean Witter, followed by 10 years with Schwab Capital Markets.  She studied Art, Dance and Biology and received her BA from UC Irvine.
